Elizabeth Daugherty

Elizabeth Tatum Daugherty, 97, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., formerly of Kennett, died Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at Chateau Girardeau in Cape Girardeau.

Born May 4, 1907, in Clarkton, Mo., daughter of the late Ira Bragg and Polly Graham Tatum, she was a homemaker and a teacher. She was a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood Chapter HU in Kennett and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Cape Girardeau.

On June 5, 1929, in Clarkton, she married Raymond Dale "Tim" Daugherty, who preceded her in death on May 8, 1984. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Polly Spitzer; one sister, Virginia Fields and one brother, John Tatum.

Survivors include one son, Tim Daugherty and wife, Patricia Ann, of Escondido, Calif.; six grandchildren, Gretchen Gensler, Kelly Daugherty, Shannon Weidauer, Maribeth Saige, Leigh McCullough and Richard Daugherty Spitzer and five great-grandchildren, Morgan Paige Spitzer, Hillary Roebuck, Kristopher and Timothy Gensler and Saylor Weidauer.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 15, at the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Kennett with Pastor Paul Kabo, Jr. officiating.

Landess Funeral Home of Malden was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
