Luevias Lyons

Luevias Lyons, 93, of Hayti, Mo., died Sunday, May 2, 2004, in Chicago, Ill.

Born Sept. 7, 1920, in Oxford, Miss., daughter of the late Cliff and Leanna Baskin, she was a homemaker and a member of the Cedar Street Baptist Church.

In 1947, she married George Lyons, Sr., who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Frances Upshaw; one son, George Lyons, Jr.; two sisters, Carrie Warr and Emma Baskin and one brother, Eddie Baskin.

Survivors include one daughter, Florine Jones, of Hayti; three sons; Freeman Pickett and wife, Mary, of Chicago, Daniel Lyons and wife, Pearlie, of Ft. Myers, Fla. and John Wesley Childs, of St. Louis, Mo.; a daughter-in-law, Rosemary Lyons, of St. Louis and 18 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at the Cedar Street Missionary Baptist Church in Hayti with the Rev. Darion Thomas officiating.

Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Hayti.

Pallbearers were Perrion Clinton, Eddie Davis, Alfonzo and Anthony Jones, Fredrick Lyons and James Williams.

John W. German Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
