Ruby Margaret Burton, 79, of Nacogdoches, Texas, formerly of Kennett, Mo., died Friday, May 7, 2004, at her residence.
Born Feb. 27, 1925, in Kennett, she was the daughter of the late Murrell and Beulah Wright Akers.
In March of 1946, she married J.D. Burton, who preceded her in death on Feb. 8, 1962. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Jeannie Burdin; two brothers, Wayne and Bob Akers and one sister, Betty Porter.
Survivors include one son, John Burton and wife, Patty, of Sugarland, Texas; two daughters, Pat Daniels and Myrtleen Burdin, of Nacogdoches; two brothers, Jim Akers, of Kennett and John Akers, of Houma, La.; two sisters, Cleta Jones, of Cape Girardeau, Mo. and Libby Dennis, of Kennett; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. today, Tuesday, May 11, at the Calvary General Baptist Church in Kennett with the Rev. Don Emery officiating.
Burial will follow at the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Kennett.
Pallbearers are John Matheny, James Willett, Donny Ward, Lee Trainer, Michael, Joey and Jimmy Don Wilburn and Jerry Akers.
McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett is in charge of arrangements.
