Jesse R. James, 96, of Kennett, died Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at National Healthcare in Kennett.

Born May 5, 1907, in Suopus, Mo., son of the late Aaron Moses and Marganie Limbaugh James, he was U.S. Army veteran, having served in both the European and Pacific Theaters during WWII. He always had a large bountiful garden even up until last year.

On Feb. 15, 1930, in Piggott, Ark., he married Lona Mae Reagan, who survives.

Survivors also include two sons, Gary James and wife, Shirley, of Jonesboro, Ark. and Mike James and wife, Beth, of Searcy, Ark.; two daughters, Avis Burrow, of Greenville, S.C. and Sandra Harrison and husband, Bob, of Gastonia, N.C.; one brother, Charley James, of Marble Hill, Mo.; 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, Arthur Franklin, Gladys, Willie Ray, David Wayne and Billy Joe James and two sisters, Nadie Ann Horton and Mary Belle Smith.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Thursday, May 6, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 7, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with Spencer Furby officiating.

Burial will follow at the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett.

Pallbearers will be Kevin, Jonathan, Jeremy and Keith James, Cliff Collins and Steve Burrow.

Honorary pallbearers will be Leonard Boggs, Chester Folkes, Frank Stewart, Gaylon Mullins, Larry McDowell, Henry Deeter, Alvin Haywood, Russ Burcham, Frank Farless and Raymond Pendergrass.
