James E. Brown, 83, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Thursday, April 29, 2004, at his residence.
Born Feb. 5, 1921, in Caruthersville, son of the late Eaphriam and Pearl Grace Pulley Brown, he was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during WWII and the Korean War and received three Bronze Stars. He was an electrician and a member of the Church of the Nazarene.
On Oct. 19, 1940, in Caruthersville, he married Floella Goff, who preceded him in death on Dec. 19, 1993. He was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Survivors include two sons, Dennis Earl Brown, of Germantown, Tenn. and Dickie W. Brown, of Oakville, Mo.; one brother, Lloyd Brown, of Jacksonville, Fla.; one sister, Carrie Springton, of Norfolk, Va.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 2, at the Church of the Nazarene in Caruthersville with the Rev. Kevin Carter officiating.
Burial was in the Maple Cemetery at Caruthersville.
Pallbearers were John Barnett, Joe Parkinson, Richard Tippen, Fearl Faulkner and James and Cletus Mott.
H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville was in charge of arrangements.
