Lyla Faye Matthews, 68, of Herculaneum, Mo., died Friday, April 23, 2004, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Festus, Mo.
Born Feb. 11, 1936, in Malden, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Lora Ellen Provance Baker.
On March 26, 1988, in Malden, Mo., she married Leo Eugene Matthews, who survives.
Survivors also include one son, Carl Edward Bibbs, Jr., of Dittmer, Mo.; one step-son, Leo Timothy Matthews, of St. Louis, Mo.; five daughters, Faith Marie Welch and husband, Stephen, of Affton, Mo., Jennifer Beth Nelson, of Phoenix, Ariz., Lisa Faye Bibbs, of St. Louis, Mo., Linda Valerie Bibbs, of Red Rock, Texas and Carrie Denise Risenhoover, of Laddonia, Mo.; two brothers, Richard Baker and wife, Bernice, of St. Louis and Jack Baker and wife, Shar, of Dayton, Texas; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Lowell Andrew, Reynold Lloyd and Reginold Floyd Baker and two sisters, Elsoner Ella Mae Montgomery and Phonda Rose Baker.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, April 28, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Malden with the Rev. Timothy Matthews officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Park Cemetery at Malden.
