Leona Mae Conaway, 78, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., formerly of Piggott, Ark., died Friday, April 23, 2004, at Three Rivers Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Born March 12, 1926, in Carryville, Ark., daughter of the late Marion Wilson and Orah Allman Young, she was retired from the Hayti Hospital in Hayti, Mo. and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ in Hayti.
On Aug. 13, 1943, she married Curtis Edward Conaway, Sr., who survives.
Survivors also include six sons, Curtis "Curt" Conaway, Sr. and wife, Yolanda, of Farber, Mo., Dale "Wayne" Conaway, of Fulton, Mo., Tony Richard Conaway and wife, Sharon, of Kennett, Benny Ray Conaway, of Poplar Bluff, Gregory Allan Conaway, of Old Mines, Mo. and David Conaway and wife, Tracie, of Troy, Tenn.; two brothers, Cloyce Young, of Cahokia, Ill. and Junior Young, of Bellview, Mo.; one sister, Janice Lourance, of Troy; 21 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Earline Smith and Vera Woodridge.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 26, at the Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Piggott, Ark. with Jim Kirby officiating.
Burial was in the Williams Cemetery at Piggott.
Pallbearers were Justin Ewing and Darrell, Richard, Jeff, Benny Ray II and Michael Conaway.
