Odell Karnes, 82, of Campbell, Mo., died Thursday, April 8, 2004 at his residence.
Born on September 6, 1921 in Senath, Mo., a son of the late Jessie and Stella Pruitt Karnes, he was a United States Navy Veteran serving during World War II, a member of the Campbell American Legion Post #109, a retired railroad rate clerk and a member of the South Canaan General Baptist Church.
On Dec. 12, 1945 in Piggott, Ark., he married W. Jean Sandefer, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include one daughter, Rita Utzinger and husband, John, of Sommerville, Texas; one son, Don Karnes and wife, Terri, of Clearwater Beach, Fla.; grandchildren, Dr. Michael Utzinger and wife, Joy, and daughter, Claire, of Sidney Hampton, Va., Tim Utzinger and wife, Dr. Sandy, and daughter, Christine, of Cos Cob, Conn., Joseph Karnes of Memphis, Tenn., and Kelsey, Kaleb, Kegan and Keeley Karnes, all of Clearwater Beach, Fla.; one uncle, A.B. Karnes of Senath, Mo., and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Boyce Blake and one sister, Rita Sue Karnes.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m., today, Friday, April 9, at the Landess Funeral Home in Campbell.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, April 10, at the Landess Funeral Chapel in Campbell, with Revs. Kevin Morris and Josh Carpenter officiating.
Burial will be in the Dunklin County Memorial Gardens in Kennett.
Memorials may be made to the South Canaan General Baptist Church in Campbell.
