Bettye M. Green, 65, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Friday, April 2, 2004, in Memphis, Tenn.
Born Nov. 5, 1938, in Caruthersville, a daughter of the late Garlan and Edna Buchanan McTernan, she was a 1956 graduate of Caruthersville High School and was deputy circuit clerk in Pemiscot County 25 years until her retirement. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Caruthersville.
On Oct. 5, 1962, she married Herman "Denny" Green, who survives.
Other survivors include one brother, Garlan McTernan of Caruthersville; three nieces, Wenlan Remo and Terri Ann Callen of Caruthersville and Roblyn Hatch of Marble Hill, Mo.; one nephew, Dr. C. David Keith of Fort Worth, Texas.
She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Denton Green; three brothers, Millard McTernan, Robert "Monk" McTernan and John B. McTernan and one sister, Helen Keith.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Sunday, April 4, in the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville with Dr. James Adams officiating.
Burial was in Little Prairie Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Robert Malone, Dan Travis, Charlie Jones, Gary Mays, Harold Pery and Dwight Davis.
