Norma Jean Palmer, 75, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Wednesday, March 24, 2004, at Doniphan, Mo.
Born Jan. 14, 1929, in Hot springs, Ark., daughter of the late William and Rosa Graves Thornton, she was a cook, waitress and of the Baptist faith.
She married Bill Palmer, who preceded her in death on March 14, 1991. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Diana Lynn Dyer and one brother, Harold Thornton.
Survivors include six children, Rickie Harden, Steve McClendon, Pamela Gibson and Margaret Welch, all of Caruthersville and Betty Perkins and James Dyer, both of Doniphan; three brothers, Harley and Curtis Thornton, both of Hayti, Mo. and Odell Thornton, of Fulton, Mo.; two sisters, Lillie Day, of Caruthersville and Billie Sue Bell, of Hayti; 14 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 27, at the John W. German Funeral Home in Hayti with the Rev. James Mills officiating.
Burial was in the Pemiscot Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Caruthersville.
Pallbearers were Jeff and Jerry Boone, Charles and Wendy Brodie, Danny Kelley and Bryan McClendon.
