Zerta Mae Phillips McMahon, 94, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Friday, March 12, 2004, at the Pemiscot Memorial Health Systems in Hayti, Mo.
Born Aug. 2, 1909, in Hayti, daughter of the late Ben and Mary Elizabeth Davis Fowler, she was a homemaker, cook and a member of the Kinfolks Ridge Baptist Church.
On March 16, 1927, in Caruthersville, she married Harmon L. Phillips, who preceded her in death on Feb. 25, 1966. She later married Willis Robert McMahon, on July 14, 1979, in Savannah, Tenn., who survives.
Survivors also include five daughters, Jean Piercefield and husband, Bill, of St. Peters, Mo. and Catherine Brown, Peggy Barnes and husband, Eddie, Shirley Russom and husband, Bobby and Barbara Pullam and husband, Joe, all of Caruthersville; one son, Gary Phillips and wife, Barbara, of Caruthersville; one step-daughter, Frances Cook, of Caruthersville; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Sammy Joy Price; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and three sisters.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 14, at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville with Dr. James Adams officiating.
Burial was in the Maple Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ronnie Price, Zach Ballentine, Jackie McNabb, Greg Russom, T.J. Ballentine and Denny Pullam.
