Altha Masterson

Altha Mae Gibbons-Masterson, 87, of Columbia, Mo., died Tuesday, March 2, 2004, at the Bluffs Nursing Center in Columbia.

Born Feb. 12, 1917, in Kennett, daughter of the late Rufus A. and Carie Taylor Gibbons, she was a secretary with the Missouri State Teachers Association.

Survivors include one daughter, Glenda Hine and husband, Larry, of Columbia; one brother, G.M. "Peck" Gibbons, of Flint, Mich.; one sister, Betty Johnson, of Davenport, Fla.; two grandchildren, Kim Cathey, of Columbia and Brad Hine, of St. Louis, Mo. and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, E.R. "Tommy" Gibbons and two sisters, Bessie B. Redman and Lessie Shipman.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 13, at the Memorial Funeral Home in Columbia.
