Eddie Levi Woods, Jr., 81, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Saturday, March 6, 2004, at Pemiscot Memorial Health Systems in Hayti, Mo.
Born Dec. 18, 1922, in Caruthersville, he was a U.S. Army veteran and was awarded two Bronze Stars. He was a farmer, a member of the American Legion and the VFW.
On June 21, 1946, in Caruthersville, he married Margie Downing, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include one daughter, Pattie Grable, of Caruthersville; one son, Tommy Woods, of Caruthersville; five brothers, George and Doyle Woods, both of Caruthersville, Charles and Lewis Woods, both of Nashville, Tenn. and Terry Woods, of Redland, Calif.; six grandchildren, Nathan Guest, Kristal Cumpton, Mary Beth Gamble, Sara Avis, Rebecca Grable and Iris Woods and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 8, at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home in Caruthersville with the Rev. Dwight Chapman officiating.
Burial was in the Maple Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bill Orton, Doyle Woods, George Woods, Jr., Rick Davis, Robert Moore and Greg Russom.
Honorary pallbearers were W.L. Hardesty, Billy Dodd, Charles Cain, John Lee Wattle and Bobby Powell.
