Delmar Winford Garland, 80, of Malden, Mo., died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2004, at his residence.
Born April 27, 1923, in Malden, son of the late Jerry and Vevia Skelton Garland, he was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during WWII. He was a sales representative for Ashcraft Wholesale Food and a member of the First General Baptist Church in Malden.
On Nov. 9, 1949, in Piggott, Ark., he married Clara Lee Kincade, who survives.
Survivors also include two sons, Keith Garland and wife, Susie, of Dexter, Mo. and Jim Garland, of Springfield, Mo.; two daughters, Teresa Chalk and husband, Johnny, of Portageville, Mo. and Sandra Crews and husband, Doyle, of Jackson, Mo.; two sisters, Francis Fay Carter, of Paducah, Ky. and Flossie Beaird, of Parma, Mo.; two brothers, Jay Garland, of Malden and Ray Garland, of Canyon Lake, Texas; three grandchildren, Melanie Davenport, of Springfield, Bob Chalk, of Parma and Jennifer Garland, of Dexter; one great-grandson, Kyle Chalk, of Parma.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Evelyn Adell Lanier and three brothers, Kenneth, Paul and Joe Garland.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Thursday, Feb. 26, at the Landess Funeral Home in Malden.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Rhodes and Bro. Howard Winberry officiating.
Burial with military rites will follow at the Bernie Cemetery in Bernie, Mo.
Memorials may be made to the First General Baptist Church in Malden.
