Joseph O. Greene, 76, of Bernie, Mo., died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2004, at Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter, Mo.
Born Aug. 13, 1927, in Portageville, Mo., son of the late Albert and Beulah Crafton Green, he was a U.S. Army veteran, retired postmaster of the Bernie Post Office and a farmer. He was a member of the Bethany General Baptist Church in Campbell, Mo.
On Jan. 17, 1948, in Piggott, Ark., he married Della Lee Green, who survives.
Survivors also include three sons, Kenneth J. and Bruce W. Greene, both of Dexter and Phillip B. Greene, of Jackson, Mo.; one daughter, Kathy Walker, of Bernie; three sisters, Allie McCrory, of Portageville and Doris Moody and Helen Preyer, both of Malden, Mo.; one brother, Bill Green, of Malden and eight grandchildren, Angie Koestel, Stacie and Austin Grene, Danny and Joey Walker, Heather Daugherty, Trent Duff and Dylen Green.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Ira, Homer, Ercel and Bob Green.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Wednesday, Feb. 25, at the Landess Funeral Home in Malden.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bryan Johnson officiating.
Burial will follow at the Bethany Cemetery in Campbell.
