James Robert Manship, 78, of Malden, Mo., died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004 at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Born Dec. 21, 1925 in Campbell, Mo., son of the late Nathan and Alma Rachel Houchins Manship, he was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran and served in the Korea War. He was a member of the Methodist Church, 4 Mile Lodge No. 212 in Campbell and American Legion Post No. 293 in Malden.
On May 15, 1948, in St. Francis, Ark., he married Dorothy Mae Wallen, who preceded him in death on Sept. 5,1992. Hhe was also preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and William Manship.
Survivors include one brother, Tom Manship of St. Francis; three nephews; three great-nephews and three great-nieces.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., today, Tuesday, Feb. 17 at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Malden with the Rev. Dick Murray officiating.
Burial with military rites were held in the Memorial Park Cemetery at Malden.
Pallbearers were Jay Venable, Bill Pruitt, Ben Bradshaw, Bob Taylor and David and Alan McElwain.
