Jewell Cleveland Hensley, 84, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, at Pemiscot Health Systems in Hayti, Mo.
Born Jan. 30, 1920, in Linden, Tenn., son of the late Grover Cleveland and Shellie Odilee Parnell Hensley, he was a U.S. Army veteran and was in the automobile repair business. He was a member of the American Legion and the First Baptist Church in Caruhersville.
On June 1, 1940, in Caruthersville, he married Helen Ruth Medlin, who survives.
Survivors also include one daughter, Donna Wilks and husband, Bob, of Oakland, Tenn.; one son, Jeff Hensley and wife, Rhonda, of Cordova, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Bryan Wilks, of Germantown, Tenn., Justin Hensley, of Memphis, Tenn. and Jeannette Lee, of Winter Haven, Fla. and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five sisters and four brothers.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville with Dr. James Adams officiating.
Burial was in the Maple Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bryan Wilks, Justin Hensley, Sam Lee, and Roger, Don and Floyd Medlin.
Honorary pallbearers were Robert Garrett, Red Pate and Bobby Mott.
