Leroy Purvis, 76, of Kennett, died Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, at his residence.
Born April 28, 1927, in Hammond, Iowa, son of the late W.J. Purvis and Minnie Tackeberry, he was a member of the Johnson's Chapel Church and the Hornersville Masonic Lodge.
On May 15, 1947, in Pocahontas, Ark., he married Dorotha DePriest, who survives.
Survivors also include one son, Al Purvis and wife, Rosemary, of Senath, Mo.; one daughter, Christy Chandler and husband, Fred, of Senath; five grandchildren, Andrea Keating, Shelly Speck, Windy Stewart, Misty Edmonston and Jason Chandler and six great-grandchildren, Drake, Jarrad and Brittney Keating, Camille Edmonston, Cameron Speck and Dylan Stewart.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, Feb. 4, at the McDaniel Fiuneral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lavon Smart officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers were Jason Chandler, Jason Stewart, Justin Edmonston, Jim Speck and Rusty and Jarrad Keating.
