Eugene Alvis, 78, of Hayti, Mo., died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at Baptist Hospital East in Memphis, Tenn.
Born Jan. 24, 1926, in Alicia, Ark., son of the late Marion Zachary and Belvah May Allen Alvis, he was a U.S. Army veteran and a farmer.
He married Martha Kelley, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by two sisters; two brothers and one granddaughter, Elizabeth Luna.
Survivors include three daughters, Martha Jean Oberbeck and Linda McLemore, both of Hayti and Darlene Busby, of Southaven, Miss.; one sister, Virginia Schuman, of Parker, Ariz.; eight grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today, Tuesday, Feb. 3, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Hayti with the Rev. John Donavan officiating.
Burial was in the Pemiscot Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Caruthersville, Mo.
Pallbearers were Matthew and Mark Luna, Don Marshall, Jr., Rodney Marshall, Stevie Hampton and Brad Moore.
