Billy Wayne Akers, 77, of Linn Creek, Mo., formerly of Kennett, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, at Boone County Hospital in Columbia, Mo.
Born June 18, 1926, in Kennett, son of the late Murrell and Beulah Wright Akers, he owned and operated Akers Paint and Drywall.
On March 16, 1946, he married Mary Earlene Damron, who survives, of the home.
Survivors also include one daughter, Teresa Smith and husband, John, of Linn Creek; two sons, Don W. Akers and wife, Suzy, of Linn Creek and Jerry Akers and wife, Donna, of Senath, Mo.; two brothers, Jimmy Akers, of Kennett and John Akers, of Louisiana; three sisters, Ruby Burton, of Nacogdoches, Texas, Cleta Jones, of Cape Girardeau, Mo. and Libby Dennis, of Kennett; ten grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, James Akers; one brother, Bob Akers and one sister, Betty Porter.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Friday, Jan. 30, at the Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Camdenton, Mo.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, at the Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Brown officiating.
A memorial has been established and contributions may be left at the funeral home.
