Charles Edward Johns, 67, of Wauchula, Fla., died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2004, at his residence.
Born Sept. 24, 1936, in Steele, Mo., son of the late Sandy Lee and Minnie Maude Cope Johns, he was a National Guard veteran, a business owner and of the Church of Christ faith.
On July 12, in Caruthersville, Mo., he married Bonnie Duvall, who survives.
Survivors also include one son, Charles Howard "Chuck" Bates, of Steele; two daughters, Kathy Monita Chapman, of Ft. Meade, Fla. and Terri Charlene Johns, of Sebring, Fla.; two sisters, Iris Ladd and husband, Gene, of Jonesboro, Ark. and Elizabeth Fry and husband, David, of Starkville, Miss.; one brother, Billy Lee Johns and wife, Connie, of Jonesboro; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Bradshaw-Powell Funeral Home in Steele.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Bradshaw-Powell Funeral Home Chapel with John Mundy and Jimmy Callens officiating.
Burial will follow at the Pemiscot Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Caruthersville.
