Marion E. Bridges, 79, of Niles, Mich., formerly of Missouri, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004, at Lakeland Specialty Hospital-Berrien Center in Berrien Springs, Mich.
Born May 21, 1924, in Yama, Mo., son of the late John Bridges and Minnie Frances, he was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in WWII. He was retired from Clark Equipment.
On Jan. 10, 1944, in Arkansas, he married Mable Louise Brady, who preceded him in death on Oct. 17, 1999. He was also preceded in death by one son, Johnny Bridges and three brothers, Jessie, Cecil and Melvin Bridges.
Survivors include one son, Larry Bridges, of Marion, Ohio; eight daughters, Peggy Six, of Eau Claire, Mich., Dorothy Joan Visel, of White Pigeon, Mich., Cathy Norris, of Cassopolis, Mich., Judy Ruetz, of Buchanan, Mich., Becky Dobrzykowski, of South Bend, Ind., Nancy Bridges and Sharon Humphrey, both of Niles and Betty Bridges-Potter, of Berrien Springs; two sisters, Minnie Maude "Mickey" Garett, of Decatur, Mich. and Ritz Jenson, of California; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 19, at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles with Pastor Skip MacCarty officiating.
Burial was in the Mission Hills Memorial Gardens at Niles.
