S. Ray Bradley, 97, died peacefully in his sleep early Friday morning, January 9, 2004, in Manor Care Health Center, in Springfield, Missouri. He was born in Belleville, Arkansas. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Hendrix College and later earned a Masters Degree in Physics from the University of Illinois.

Verna Jo Franks became his wife on August 24, 1929, in Harrison, Arkansas. They enjoyed a life together for 71 years. She preceded him in death on September 22, 2000.

Bradley taught school in Arkansas, Illinois and Missouri and later went to work with NASA. He worked on the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo Rocket Series. Man landing on the moon was the professional achievement which he was most proud.

He is survived by his son Robert and wife Barbara Bradley of Kennett, Missouri and son-in-law John R. Lewis and his wife Gay Kenworthy Lewis, 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
