Verdia Mary Plunkett, 86, of Springfield, Mo., formerly of Holcomb, Mo., died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004, at Magnolia Square Nursing Center in Springfield.
Born May 27, 1917, in Beach Corner, Mo., she was the daughter of the late William Franklin and Donnie Mae Austin Long.
On June 30, 1962, she married James Edward Pluunkett, who preceded her in death on April 10, 2003. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Hubert, Harry, Alton and Otis Long and two sisters, Sylvia Sutton and Corrine Jones.
Survviors include five sons, Jim Harmon, of Springfield, J.D. Harmon, of Dallas, Texas, Roger Plunkett, of Gideon, Mo. and Jimmy Lee and Sherman Plunkett, both of Clarkton, Mo.; one daughter, Patricia Ann Thompson, of Clarkton; three sisters, Hattie Mae Burcham, of Senath, Mo., Faye Miller, of Grand Blane, Mich. and Laveda Martin, of Mt. Home, Idaho; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 6:30 p.m. today, Friday, Jan. 9, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home of Malden, Mo.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dale Rickman officiating.
Burial will follow at the Stanfield Cemetery in Clarkton.
