Joy L. Riddick, 97, of Steele, Mo., died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, at her residence.
Born May 6, 1906, in Braggadocio, Mo., daughter of the late William Andrew and Clarissa Caroline Harris Long, she worked at Farmers Home Administration in Caruthersville, Mo. and also the First State Bank prior to retirement. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Caruthersville.
On April 21, 1928, in Caruthersville, she married Douglas Cox Johnson, who preceded her in death on Aug. 4, 1962. She later married L.A. "Mike" Riddick, who preceded her in death on March 16, 2000. She was also preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include four children, Barry and Lewis Riddick and Joan Griggs, all of Steele and Patti Poole, of Olive Branch, Miss.; nine grandchildren and several great-gandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2, at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home in Caruhersville with Dr. James Adams and the Rev. Jim Mousie officiating.
Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery at Steele.
Pallbearers were B.J. Riddick, Lewis Riddick, III, Aaron Burton, Josh Yarbrough, Nogi McDaniel and Casey Ray.
Honorary pallbearers were Charles Albert Farris, Reggie Green, Vivian Jones, Lavanda White and Willis Davidson.
