Curtis Melvin Adams, 88, of Lawton, Okla., formerly of Clarkton, Mo., died Thursday, Dec. 25, at New Haven Nursing Center at Lawton.
Born Sept. 8, 1915, at Light, Ark., son of the late Joseph and Mary Ellen Dale Adams, he was a member of Stanfield Baptist Church at Clarkton.
On March 17, 1943, in Jonesboro, Ark., he married Pearl Gooden who preceded him in death May 14, 1994. He was also preceded in death by one son, Melvin Adams; one daughter; Alene Vyvaret; one sister; five brothers and four grandsons.
Survivors include daughters, Barbara Farthing, of Dalton, Neb., Linda Turner, of Sidney, Neb., Ann McPherson, of Lawton; Iris Putney of Petersburg, Va., Sharon Davis of Cushing, Okla. and Dorothy Brown of Lawton; three sons, James Adams, of Neosho, Mo., Ronnie Cato, of Blytheville, Ark. and Roy Adams, of Coperous Cove, Texas; 39 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today, Tuesday, Dec. 30, at Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Jack Allen officiating.
Burial was in the Stanfield Cemetery at Clarkton.
