Larry Thomason, 55, of Kennett, died Thursday, December 11, 2003, at Capitol Regional Hospital in Jefferson City, Mo.
Born October 31, 1948, in Jefferson City, he was a son of the late William Fay Thomason and Mabel Ester Bolten Thomason. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Bill Thomason.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in the Viet Nam war. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Kennett.
Mr. Thomason was elected as State Representative for the 16rd district in 1988 which he served until 1998 when Governor Holden appointed him Executive Director of Missouri Highway Reciprocity Commission. He is currently the Director of Missouri Motor Carrier Services, which is a combination of regulating carrier services, which includes the Highway Reciprocity Commission. He was also a former Director of Kennett Chamber of Commerce.
On April 4, 1978, he married Diane Bush.
Surviving are his wife, Diane Thomason of Kennett, a daughter, Sarah Michelle Thomason of Kennett; two sisters, Linda Thomason and Judy Thomason Braswell both of Kennett; mother-in-law, Isabel McNulty of Kennett, two nieces, Tari Cauble and Sandy Duncan of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; two nephews, Mitch Thomason of Carthage, Mo. and Jeff Thomason of Jefferson City; five great nephews and two great nieces.
Visitation will be noon to 2 p.m. today, Sunday, Dec. 14, at First United Methodist Church in Kennett.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Paul Lanning officiating.
Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett.
