Sammy Morgan, Sr., 52, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn.
Born Jan. 23, 1951, in Phoenix, Ariz., son of William Jessie Morgan and the late Gladys Short Morgan, he was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Vietnam. He was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W. and the Kinfolks Ridge Baptist Church.
On Oct. 13, 2003, in Tiptonville, Tenn., he married Shelia Camp, who survives.
Survivors also include two sons, Donald Morgan and Sammy Morgan, Jr., both of Caruthersville; one daughter, Samantha Morgan, of Caruthersville; his father, William Jessie Morgan, of Kennett; five brothers, Larry Morgan, of Hayti, Mo., Glenn Morgan, of Risco, Mo., Donald Morgan, of Hollywood, Fla., Tommy Morgan, of Kansas City, Mo. and William Morgan, of Caruthersville; seven sisters, Sandy Kephart, of Corning, Mo., Regina Morgan, of Kansas City, Judie Hudgens, of Caruthersville, Brenda Mundt, of Oxley, Mo., Peggy Sanchez, of Santee, Calif., Brenda K. Ruby, of Warsaw, Mo. and Betty Morgan, of Kennett and five grandchildren.
Memorial services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville with the Rev. Troy Alley officiating.
