Sylvester H. Smith, 76, of Georgetown, Texas, formerly of Glennonville, Mo. and Fairview Heights, Ill., died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, at Georgetown.
Born June 7, 1927, in Glennonville, son of the late Elmer George and Anna Mary Fuemmelar Smith, he was a U.S. Navy veteran, a member of the V.F.W. Post No. 8587 in Georgetown and a member of the Knights of Columbus No. 6453 He was a member of the St. Helen Catholic Church.
On Nov. 9, 1957, in Fairview Heights, he married Mary Margaret Lett, who survives.
Survivors also include one daughter, Ann Marie Mihm and husband, Mark, of Dallas, Texas; one brother, Leonard Smith and wife, Doris, of Swannanoa, N.C.; two sisters, Dorothy Kettmann, of Kennett and Margaret Oakley and husband, Gene, of Reno, Nev. and two grandsons, Jackson and Spencer Mihm, both of Dallas.
He was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters, Floyd Teder, Mildred, Fredrick, Francis, Arnold and Bernard Smith, Hycianth Spaulding and Beatrice Boyd.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, at the St. Teresa's Cemetery in Glennonville with Father Glenn Eftink officiating.
Landess Funeral home of Campbell is in charge of arrangements.
