Walter F. "Slick" Wallen, 74, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003 at the Methodist Central Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
Born on July 7, 1929 in Braggadocio, Mo., son of the late John F. and Nettie Mae Morgan Wallen, he was in the trucking business with Rosenberg Produce Company in Flint, Mich., and was a 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner.
On March 27, 1948 in Piggott, Ark., he married Betty Sue Newbourn, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include two daughters, Ann Wheeler and husband, Thomas, of Marion, Ark., Terry Roesner and husband, Ernie, of Swartz Creek, Mich.; four grandchildren, Michael Bivins, of Memphis, Tenn., Stacey Morris, of Marion, Ark., Jessica Yonkovit, of Cleveland, Oh., and Jaqlyn Roesner, of Swartz Creek, Mich.; two great grandchildren, Thomas Morris, of Marion, Ark., and Sean Bivins, of Memphis, Tenn.; one brother, Chip Wallen, of Wichita, Kan.; and one sister, Becky Jane Vaughn, of Raytown, Mo.
He was preceded in death by one son, Charles Albert Wallen, three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 17 in the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville, with Rev. Dr. James Adams and Rev. Johnny Hood officiating.
Burial was in the Little Prairie Cemetery at Caruthersville.
Pallbearers were Gene Morgan, Mark James, Chris James, Tom Wheeler, Clay Morgan and Mike Morgan.
