Billy Wayne Williams, 76, of Steele, Mo., died Monday, Nov. 7, 2003 at his residence.
Born on August 3, 1927 in Fulton, Miss., son of the late E.J. and Myrtle Prestage Williams, he was a member of the Nunnery Chapel General Baptist Church in Denton, Mo., where he was a deacon and a songleader, he was also a grocery store owner.
On Oct. 18, 1947 in Piggott, Ark., he married Velda Williams, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include two daughters, Sandra Hahs Woodward and husband, Frank, of Memphis, Tenn., and Sheila Boyer and husband, Bill, of Scott City, Mo.; five grandchildren, Adam Barnard, of Jonesboro, Ark., Megan Barnard, of Columbia, Mo., Jordan Barnard, of Steele, Jauren Hahs Preston, of Austin, Texas and Rachel Cooper, of Searcy, Ark.; three brothers, Aaron, Willie and Preston Williams, all of Kansas City and one sister, Etoyle Orsinger, of Rockford, Ill.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lorena Vaughn, Maydoyle Douglas and one brother, Allen Williams.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. today, Wednesday, Nov. 19 at the Nunnery Chapel General Baptist Church in Denton, Mo., with Rev. Keith De Fries officiating.
Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery at Steele.
Pallbearers will be Verlon Barnard, Jerry Green, Gary Sanders, Jackie Horton, Glen Griffin, and Gary Wayne Hicks.
Honorary pallbearers will be R.E. Hewlett, Carl Johnson, Bill Ricketts, Richard Burdine, Joey Burdine, Maurice Massey, Pete Driskill, Jerry Howell and Glen Flood.
Bradshaw Powell Funeral Home of Steele was in charge of arrangements.
