Joe L. Kirkwood, 82, of Campbell, Mo., died Monday, Nov. 17, 2003, at his residence.

Born June 8, 1921, in Campbell, son of the late Lew and Leeron Octa Walker Kirkwood, he was a U.S. Army veteran, assistant postmaster in Campbell and he worked for Rice Hardware. He was a member of the Campbell Church of Christ.

On Aug. 27, 1941, in Holcomb, Mo., he married Nelda Pleasant, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include two daughters, Leeron Gail Snider and husband, Donald, of Columbia, S.C. and Patricia Ann Kirkwood, of Campbell; two sons, Joel Stephen Kirkwood and wife, Vicki, of Lubbock, Texas and Michael Bruce Kirkwood and wife, Myrna, of Campbell; two step-sisters, Shirley Ann Scott and Una Faye Carpenter; three half-sisters, Barbara Sue Morgan, Mary Lou Cox and Betty Carolyn Coffel and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, James Ray, Martin Lee, Donald Clarence and Billy Martin Kirkwood.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, at the Landess Funeral Home in Campbell.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel with C.O. Evans officiating.

Burial will follow at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Campbell.
