Rev. Virgle M. Weaks, 70, of Farmington, Mo., died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, at Southbrook Skilled Nursing Center in Farmington.
Born Feb. 23, 1933, in Darnell, La., son of the late William Finas and Lula Annis Strong Weaks, he was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean Conflict and a member of the Gumbo Assembly of God Church. Ordained by General Council of Asemblies of God, he pastored at the Assembly of God in Portia, Ark., Bethel Assembly of God in Gideon, Mo. and Senath Assembly of God in Senath, Mo. He served as the Kennett Section Presbyter from 1999-2002.
He married Blanchie Davis, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include one son, Jimmy Weaks and wife, Debra, of Chicago, Ill.; one daughter, Linda May and husband, Ray, of Desloge, Mo.; three brothers, Marvin Weaks and wife, Jan, of West Memphis, Ark., Cliff Weaks and William Weaks and wife, Laura, all of Montreal, Mo.; six sisters, Vivian Cole and husband, Clyde, of Fort Worth, Texas, Shannon Gentry and husband, Ed and Wanda Brooks, all of St. Louis, Mo., Bonnie Eldridge and husband, Wayne, of Lake City, Ark., Fay Pinkston and husband, Larry, of Camdenton, Mo. and Ellen Darnell and husband, Ed, of Holiday, Texas; four grandchildren, Katherine and Tyler Weaks, Beth May Fitzgerald and Brian May and 23 nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today, Friday, Nov. 14, at the C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Desloge.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, at the Gumbo Assembly of God Church with the Revs. L. Jack Moore and J.C. Moore officiating.
Burial will follow at the Parkview Cemetery.
