James Oscar Emery, 76, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Friday, Oct. 17, 2003, at Pemiscot Memorial Health Systems in Hayti, Mo.
Born March 6, 1927, in Reno, Ark., son of the late George and Ruby Stady Emery, he was employed as a truck driver for the city of Caruthersville.
In 1948, he married Lorene Gaskins and later married Judy Black.
Survivors include six daughters, Marlene Talkington, Christine Scott, Debbie Sams and Joan Prater, all of Caruthersville, Teresa Watkins, of Braggadocio, Mo. and Christie Miller, of Lebanon, Mo.; two sons, Michael Emery, of Caruthersville and James Emery, of Atoka, Tenn.; one sister, Lillian Byrd, of Rolla, Mo.; nineteen grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville with the Rev. Jim Pilcher officiating.
Burial was in the Little Prairie Cemetery in Caruthersville.
Pallbearers were Ed Southern, Wallie Sams, Jacob Emery, Robert Houston, Nick Brooks and Fred Parker.
