Rev. Damian G. Boeding, 77, of Joplin, Mo., died Monday, Sept. 29, 2003, at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Joplin.
Born Nov. 7, 1925, in Goff, Kan., son of the late Herman and Anna Haverkamp Boeding, he attended St. Benedict College, receiving his major seminary training in St. Benedict Abbey Seminary in Atchison, Kan., and he served in parishes and schools under the direction of the Benedictine Order. He was incardinated into the Diocese of Springfield-Cape Girardeau, served as associate pastor of Immaculate Comnception Parish in Springfield, Mo., pastor of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Kennett, as well as serving the mission of St. Jospeh in Steele, Mo. He served as associate pastor of St. Canera in Neosho, Mo., pastor of St. William in Buffalo, Mo., chaplain for Cox Medical Center and chaplain at St. de Chantal Monastery in Springfield and he was a member of the St. Peter the Apostle Church.
Survivors include two sisters, Leona Olberding and Rosalia Fangman, both of Seneca, Kan. and three brothers, Francis Boeding, of Raytown, Mo., Lawrence Boeding, of Kansas City, Kan. and Wilbert Boeding, of Seneca.
A memorial mass, celebrated by Bishop John J. Leibrecht, took place Wednesday, Oct. 8, at the St. Peter the Apostle Church in Joplin.
