Elgin Jackson Brown, 80, of Gideon, Mo., died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003 at Three Rivers Healthcare North in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Born on August 3, 1923 in Carrollton, Miss., a son of the late Jasper Barnes and Maggie Peal Slocumb Brown, he was a teacher for 37 years at the Gideon and Risco Schools and a member of the First Baptist Church in Gideon.
On June 17, 1956 in Winona, Miss., he married Dorothy Vergene Wright Bostic, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include, three sons, Joe Bostic and wife, Carmen, of Jefferson City, Mo., Jimmy Bostic of Gideon, and Elgin J. Brown Jr., and wife, Teresa, of Little Rock, Ark.; one daughter, Mary Moore and husband, Don, of Wappappello, Mo.; one brother, Johnny Brown of Tuscaloosea, Ala.; one sister, Thelma Ellis of Vaiden, Miss.; 22 grandchilden, 30 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
He was preceeded in death by one son, Jackie Bostic and one brother, J.B. Brown.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Thursday, Oct. 9, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Gideon.
Funeral services will held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 10, at the Bradshaw Chapel in Gideon.
Burial will be in the Rosewood Cemetery in Malden, Mo.
