Mavis Virginia Miller, 75, of rural Marston, Mo., died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003 at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Born on June 24, 1928 in White County, Ark., a daughter of the late Robert S. and Ophelia Key McWhirter, she was a graduate of Holcomb High School and a member of the Church of Christ in Lilbourn, Mo.
On December 24, 1947 in Piggott, Ark., she married Alvin Anderson Miller, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include, two daughters, Judy Duley and husband, Mike, of Bloomfield, Mo., and Juletta Carnell of Marston; one son, Alvin Tony Miller and wife, Cindy, of New Madrid, Mo.; six grandchildren, Michael Duley, Jr. of Jackson, Mo., Matthew D. Duley of Dexter, Melissa Duren of Fayette, Jessica White of Cape Girardeau, Carrie Miller of Baton Rouge, La., and Robert Spencer Miller of New Madrid; six great-grandchildren, Logan, Kalynn, Morgan and Tanner Duly of Jackson and Spencer and Madeline Duren of Fayette; and two brothers, Donald McWhirter of House Springs and Jimmy McWhirter of Lono, Ark.
She was preceeded in death by an infant son, Robert A. Miller and two brothers, Billy and Bobby McWhirter.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Thursday, Oct. 9, at Ponder Funeral Home in Lilbourn, Mo.
Burial will be in the Mounds Park Cemetery in Lilbourn.
