Nellie Phillips

Nellie Mae Phillips, 82, of Portageville, Mo., died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003, at the Pemiscot County Nursing Home in Hayti, Mo.

Born Jan. 11, 1921, in Swift, Mo., daughter of the late Sherman and Mary Jane Fisher Creech, she was in retail sales and a member of the Eastern Star.

In 1959, in West Memphis, Ark., she married William Frank Phillips, who preceded her in death on Dec. 15, 1987. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Nelson Creech.

Survivors include one son, James Barron, of Bragg City, Mo.; one brother, Harold Creech, of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; a granddaughter, Kimbrely Fern, of Little Rock, Ark. and a special friend, Morris Williams, of Hayti.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today, Tuesday, Oct. 7, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Wardell, Mo. with the Rev. Grif Walker officiating.

Burial was in the Little Prairie Cemetery at Caruthersville, Mo.
