Billy Mac Abernathy, 77, of Campbell, Mo., died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, at the Piggott Community Hospital in Piggott, Ark.
Born March 2, 1926, in Campbell, son of the late John a. and Rado Poole Abernathy, he was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in WWII. He was an inspector for the Department of Law Enforcement at Illinois weight station and a member of the Campbell Church of Christ.
On Aug. 3, 1963, he married Nora Irene Byer Smart, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include two sons, Jonathan Abernathy, of Wright City, Mo. and Dixon Smart and wife, Nancy, of Littleton, Colo.; one daughter, Kathy Spittler and husband, Gerry, of Carbondale, Ill.; two brothers, Jack Abernathy and wife, Hazel, of Campbell and Terry Abernathy and wife, June, of Troy, Mo. and five grandchildren, Mindy Quiachon, of Bloomfield, Mo., Matt and Natalie Smart, both of Littleton and David and Rachel Spittler, both of Carbondale.
He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Noelle spittler; one brother, Eugene Abernathy and five sisters, Lois Malin, Lottie Conran and Patsy, Johnieve and Iris Abernathy.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, Sept. 30. at the Landess Funeral Home in Campbell.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel with C.O. Evans officiating.
Burial will follow at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Campbell.
