Bernice Burgess Grayson, 86, of Arbyrd, Mo., died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2003 at the Arlington Memorial Hospital in Arlington, Texas.
Born Oct. 18, 1916, in Paragould, Ark., she was the daughter of the late Henry Cornelious and Ocia Stevens McDonald.
She married Chalmer Burgess, Clarence Whitaker and Haywood Grayson, all of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one son, Charles Burgess; one daughter, Dorothy Walters; one brother, Billy McDonald; two sisters, Olevia Davis and Flora Nipper; one grandson, Michael Walters and one great-grandson, Billy Barnes.
Survivors include two sons, Dennis Burgess, of Arlington and Jimmy Burgess, of Mansfield, Texas; five daughters, Peggy Sessums, of Arbyrd, Mo., Deloise Taylor, of Paragould, Joyce Ewton, of Venus, Texas and Linda Huff, of Grand Prairie, Texas and Wanda Burgess, of Grand Prairie; 26 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, at the Arbyrd Pentecostal Church in Arbyrd with the Rev. Vernon Purser officiating.
Burial was in the Lulu Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Neil and Brian Burgess, Dennis Ewton, Brian Shirley, David and Daniel Pearson, Mickey Ward and Harley Livingston.
Honorary pallbearers were Gaylon Ewton and Kenny and Jackie Burgess.
McDaniel Funeral Home of Arbyrd was in charge of the arrangements.
