Verdie Qualls Cossey, 87, of Piggott, Ark., died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2003, at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould, Ark.
Born Oct. 8, 1915 in Savannah, Tenn., daughter of the late Oscar and Roxie Jane Smith Ford, she was a homemaker and a member of the Pine Grove Apostalic Pentecost Church.
She married Lancer Taylor Qualls, who proceded her in death and she later married Hershul Cossey, of Sikeston, Mo.
Survivors also include two sons, Eubert Randle Qualls and wife, Janice, of Piggott, and Robert Eugene Qualls and wife, Karen, of Portageville, Mo.; five daughters, Helen Ruth Ricks and husband, Rogert, of Stow, Ohio, Janis Williamson, of Hanover, Md., Ilsa Faye Rhynes and husband, Arlon, of Marmaduke, Ark., Jo Ann Shelton and husband, Doyle, of Rector, Ark. and Eva Nell Williams and husband, Ricky, of Kennett, two brothers, Wilburn Ford of Gulfport, Miss. and Carmet Ford of West Memphis, Ark.; 21 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, James Lewis Qualls; two daughters, Vera Lavelle and Wilma Mae Qualls; one sister, Thelma Middleton; six brothers, Theodore, Allen, Eldridge, O'Dell, Lawrence and Edward Ford and three grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today, Tuesday, Sept. 16, at the Faith Christian Church in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, at the Faith Christian Center with ministers Tony Rhyes and Timothy Williamson officiating.
Burial will follow at the Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector.
Pallbearers will be Jason Williams, Nathan Shelton, Jonathan Qualls, Bruce Ricks, Timothy Williamson and Tony Rhynes.
