Born Oct. 7, 1937 in Memphis, son of the late Joseph A. "Peck" and Letha Coleman Hayden, he was a pharmacist and co-owner of Hayden's Pharmacy in Caruthersville. He was a member of the Missouri Pharmacy Association, National Association of Community Pharmacists, Pharmaceutical Compounding Center of America, and Ole Miss Loyalty Foundation. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
On April 13, 1998, in San Antonio, Texas, he married Deborah McCoin, who survives.
Survivors also include, one son, Joseph A. "Trey" Hayden, III, of Covington, Tenn.; two daughters, Lee Ann Hayden of Seattle, Wash. and Lauren Hayden Parry, of Jackson, Miss.; one step-son, Christopher Holland of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; five grandchildren, Joseph Jones Hayden and William Wilks Hayden, both of Covington, Elizabeth Wilks Parry, Grace Catherine and Virginia Ann Parry, all of Jackson; one brother, Henry T. Hayden, of Caruthersville and one sister, Catherine Dawson Cook of New Madrid, Mo.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Ellis Hayden Coleman.
Funeral services were held today, Wednesday, Sept. 10, at the Sacred Heart Church in Caruthersville with Father Joe Campbell officiating.
Burial was in the Little Prairie Cemetery at Caruthersville.
Pallbearers were Tommy Hayden, Matthew Hayden, Chris Holland, Hayden Dawson, George Dawson, II, and Sam Tillman.
H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville was in charge of arrangements.
