Hazel T. James, 85, of Hayti, Mo., died Monday, Sept. 1, 2003, at Hayti.
Born July 26, 1918, in Tigrett, Tenn. daughter of the late Turner C. and Lillie M. Williams Hayes, she was a homemaker, owner and operator of Levi's Drive-In and a clerk at C&G Fashions. She was of the Pentecostal faith.
On Jan. 9, 1939, in Caruthersville, Mo., she married Levi James, who preceded her in death on April 1, 1993. She was also preceded in death by one son, Kenneth James; three grandsons, Jerry Wayne Atchison and Glenn and Terry Watts and one brother, Turner "Junior" Hayes.
Survivors include one son, Jerry Atchison, of Gonzales, La.; three sisters, Effie Lou Inman, of Tucson, Ariz., Danna Chester, of Clarksville, Ind. and Brenda Inman, of Braggadocio, Mo.; one brother, Ed Hayes, of Tucson; one grandson, Frankie James, of Kirbyville, Mo.; one granddaughter, Debbie Hollingshead, of Arkadelphia, Ark. and seven great-grandchildren, Erica James, of Hayti, Travis James, of Kirbyville, Terry Wayne and Heather Cash, both of Arkadelphia, Justin Marks Atchison, of Port Allen, La., Allison Watts, of Garland, Texas and Anna Watts, of Rhode Island.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5, at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Hayti with Bro. Glyn Davis officiating.
Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Hayti.
Pallbearers were Richard Ashbaugh, J.W. Hoggard, Cory Glisson, Jim Brent, Martin Ray and Bobby Irions.
