Lillie Mae Phebues, 95, of Hayti, Mo., died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003 at Pemiscot Memorial Helath Systems in Hayti.
Born on May 15, 1908 in Swift, Mo., daughter of the late Mary Elizabeth and Ulis Grant Prince, she was a member of the Hayti Pentecostal Holiness Church.
In 1923, she married John D. Bassin, who preceded her in death, she then married Chester Phebues on May 15, 1963, who preceded her in death on May 26, 1966. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Willie Hendricks and three brothers, Dode, Charlie and Roy Prince. Survivors include three sons, Johnnie Bass of Fort Collins, Colo., George Bass of Pendleton, Ore., and Floyd Bass of Warden, Ill.; three daughters, Helen Townes of Bonne Terre, Mo., Ann Holtsford of Madison, Ill., and Dorothy Nail of Hayti; 27 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren and 26 great great-grandchilden.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, at the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Hayti with the Rev. John Keel officiating.
Burial was in the Maple Cemetery at Caruthersville, Mo.
Pallbearers were Bobby Irions, Ron Birmingham, Wayne Keller and Reggie Bunn.
John W. German Funeral Home of Hayti was in charge of arrangements.
Estle Gray Thomas, 82, of Malden, Mo., died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003, at the Malden Nursing Center.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete with the Bradshaw Funeral Home of Malden.
