James W. Davis, 86, of Kennett, died Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at National Health Care in Kennett.
Born April 2, 1917, in Egypt, Ark., he was the son of the late James Fleming and Ellen Collins Davis.
On Dec. 4, 1934, he married Pauline Wright, who preceded him in death on Jan. 24, 1999. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Richard and David Allen Davis; two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include five sons, James Davis, of Holcomb, Mo., George Charles Davis, of Van Buren, Mo., Jerry Davis, of Campbell, Mo., Larry Davis, of Robertsdale, La. and Danny Davis, of Kennett; four daughters, Patsy Whittle, of Kennett, Peggy Simmons, of Murrieta, Calif., Carol Hairston, of Moreno Valley, Calif. and Barbara Mobley, of Winona, Mo.; 28 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. today, Friday, June 20, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Ed Jansson officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers were Roger, Steve, Richard, Jeffrey and Greg Davis and George Jenkins.
Honorary pallbearers were John, Jerry D. and Kenny W. Davis, Mike Coulson, David McCarty and David Hairston.
Lydia Heckman, 88, of Campbell, Mo., formerly of Ft. Collins, Colo., died Thursday, June 19, 2003, at the Piggott Community Hospital in Piggott, Ark.

Juanita May DeMent Stewart, 65, of Paragould, Ark., died Thursday, June 19, 2003, at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould, Ark.
Born Aug. 11, 1937, in Cardwell, Mo., daughter of the late Patrick Shaw and Lola Rhee DeVoll DeMent, she was the manager of the Value Outlet Store, a salesclerk at Belk's and a member of the First Assembly of God.
She married William C. Stewart, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph, Fred and Charles DeMent.
Survivors include two sons, Boyce Stewart, of Gomez Palacio, Mexico and John Stewart, of Paragould; one daughter, Lola Jackson, of Paragould; four brothers, Raymond DeMent, of Bartlesville, Okla., Don DeMent, of Monroe, Va., Dale DeMent, of Mountain Home, Ark. and Glenn DeMent, of Riverside, Calif.; six sisters, Loretta Bresler, of Malibu, Calif., Faye Williams, of Rancho Cordova, Calif., Regina Southard, of Pine Grove, Calif., Reva DeMent Best, of Kapaa, Hawaii, Zelda Ingle, of Sacramento, Calif. and Iris DeMent, of Kansas City, Mo.; stepmother, Mae DeMent, of Fair Oaks, Calif.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Friday, June 20, at the Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 21, at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Leland DeMent officiating.
Burial will follow at the Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Sam Jackson, Jason Clark, Cameron Tate, Phillip Faulkner, P.J. Faulkner and Charles Woodson.
