Tommy Burr

Tommy Eugene "Red" Burr, 73, of Paragould, Ark., died Thursday, June 19, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.

Born Jan. 22, 1930, in Poughkeepsie, Ark., he was a son of the late Clint and Ruby Duncan Burr.

On March 13, 1953, he married Rose Annette Fuller who preceded him in death March 18, 2001. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Hubert Lavon Burr.

Survivors include a son, Raymond Burr of Lampasses, Texas; two daughters, Rose Ann Parrish and husband, Jimmy, of Lafe, Ark. and Judy Guillot and husband, Rick, of Paragould; two brothers, C.D. Burr of White Oak, Mo. and Jack Burr of Rector, Ark.; five sisters, Sandy Coffman of Stockman, Calif., Nadine Scallion, Sherry Faries, Sue Huggins and Sandra Burr, all of Paragould; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today, Sunday, June 22, at McDaniel Funeral Service Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Earnie Rinks officiating.

Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Kennett.

Pallbearers will be grandsons: Jeremy Parrish, Daniel Guillot, Nathan Guillot, Kevin Dickens, Burl Rogers and Billy Reed.

Helen Hughes

Helen Elizabeth Hughes, 87, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at Pemiscot Memorial Health Systems in Hayti.

Born Feb. 1, 1916, in Caruthersville, a daughter of the Late Dr. Walton Morrison Collins, Jr. and Lillian Hudgens Collins, she was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was a graduate of Caruthersville High School and Visitation Academy. She was a vice president of Colonial Federal Savings and Loan prior to retirement and a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club and the SEMO women's Club.

Survivors include a son, Bob Hughes of Cordova, Tenn. and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 20, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Joe Campbell officiating.

Burial was in Little Prairie Cemetery with H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville in charge of services.

Pallbearers were Bob Lawrence, John Martin, Rouss Hill, Mel Gale, Tom Collins and Bob Holland.

Honorary pallbearers were Dan Mucica, Cleat Stanfill, Larry Privett, Richard Michie, Bill Watkins, David Boyd and Billy Collins.

Louis Wright

Louis Harold Wright, 79, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Wednesday, June 18, 2003, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

Born Aug. 5, 1923, in Steele, Mo., a son of the late David and Ruby Biggert Wright he was a graduate of Caruthersville High School. Nov. 9, 1942, in Little Rock, Ark., he entered the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged Jan. 28, 1946 at Jefferson Barracks, Mo. He was awarded a Bronze Star. Prior to retirement, he was a switchman for Southwestern Bell Telephone. He was a Methodist.

On March 13, 1946, in Hernando, Miss., he married Jean Bostic, who survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Mike Wright of Caruthersville and Dennis Wright of Van Buren, Mo., one daughter, Betty Russell of Perryville, Mo. and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services were 2 p.m. Friday, June 20, at H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville with the Rev. Kenny Lee officiating.

Burial was in Maple Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Tom Swift, Jack W. Hubbard, Jr., Joe Prather, Tom Hill, John Clyde Thompson and Dave Wilkerson.

Mildred Whitlock

Mildred Whitlock, 77, of Kennett, died Saturday, June 21, 2003, at her residence.
