Johnie Chalk

Johnie Mack Chalk, 87, of Malden, Mo., died Wednesday, June 25, 2003, at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter, Mo.

Born Feb. 3, 1916, in Light, Ark., son of the late Arthur Marshall and Pearl M. Davis Chalk, he was parts manager for Kirksey Motors and Richarsdson Wynette. He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Malden, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and the Cotton Hill Lodge No. 306.

On April 6, 1940, in Malden, he married Virginia Melissa Moore, who preceded him in death on June 24, 1998. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Sturm.

Survivors include two sons, Phil Chalk, of Newport, Ark. and Dewey Chalk, of Grove Hill, Ala.; one daughter, Peggy Chalk Salley, of Meridian, Miss.; one brother, Louis Chalk, of Frankston, Texas; three grandchildren, Carl Johnson, Carol Johnson Borgognoni and Darrell Chalk; eight grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Friday, June 27, at the Landess Funeral home in Malden.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 28, at the First Southern Baptist Church in Malden with the Rev. Ernie Nelson officiating.

Burial will follow at the Memorial Park Cemtery in Malden.

Lottie Creed

Lottie Creed, 96, of Senath, Mo., died Thursday, June 26, 2003, at National Health Care in Kennett.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 28, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Senath.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 28, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Vernon Purser officiating.

Burial will follow at the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett.

Ann Johnson

Ann Johnson, 63, of Kennett, died Wednesday, June 25, 2003, at her residence.

Born Nov. 12, 1939, in Halls, Tenn., daughter of the late William and Clara Stewart Vaughn, she was co-owner and operator of Johnson's Conoco in Kennett.

On Aug. 13, 1957, she married Richard Johnson, who preceded her in death on June 12, 1996.

Survivors include two sons, Richard Johnson and wife, Kim and Andy Johnson and wife, Kathy, all of Kennett; one daughter, Lori Baker and husband, Lynn, of Memphis, Tenn.; two sisters, Mary Jones, of Halls, Tenn. and Martha Savage, of Ripley, Tenn. and five grandchildren, Will, Amy and Hannah Johnson and Katelyn and Kari Baker.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Friday, June 27, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with Britt Burcham officiating.

Burial was in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.

Pallbearers were Frank Stuart, Roger Pritchett, Terry Key, Kyle Bristol, Jeff Huskey and Ray Johnson. Memorials may be made to the Slicer Street Church of Christ.

Willie Johnson

Willie E. Johnson, 87, of Hayti, Mo., died Tuesday, June 24, 2003, at the Pemiscot County Nursing Home in Hayti.

Born March 7, 1916, in Russellville, ala., daughter of the late William R. and Mary Breedlove Swader, she was a homemaker.

In 1934, in Osceola, Ark., she married John Johnson, who preceded her in death in 1962. She was also preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include one sister, Myrtle Dodson, of Hayti.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 26, at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville, Mo.

Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers were James McEwen, Sonny McMillen, Gene Turner, Justin Huckleba and Dustin Bauer.

Larry Lawrence

Larry Mike Lawrence, 54, of Lubbock, Texas, died Friday, June 20, 2003, at the Covenant Hospital in Lubbock.

Born March 26, 1949, in Gideon, Mo., son of the late Paul and Della Byrum Lawrence, he worked at Tankline Trucking Co. and was a member of the Church on the Rock in Lubbock.

On Oct. 29, 1970, in Kennett, he married Nancy Hoehn, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include one son, Tony Elliott and wife, Pam, of Modesto, Calif.; three brothers, Marvin and Tim Lawrence, both of Kennett and Rick Lawrence, of White Oak, Mo.; four sisters, Minnie Lawrence and Dorris Grubbs, both of Kennett, Teresa Lawrence, of Dexter, Mo. and Barbara Elliott, of Malden, Mo.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Myrtle Adams.

Funeral services were held at noon today, Friday, June 27, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Kennett with the Rev. Hubert Robertson officiating.

Burial was in the Stanfield Cemetery at Clarkton, Mo.

Curtis McClish

Curtis "Peanut" McClish, 61, of Cardwell, Mo., died Thursday, June 26, 2003, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.

Born Jan. 30, 1942, in Newport, Ark., he was the son of the late Walter and Beatrice Slayden McClish.

On Dec. 17, 1981, in Cardwell, he married Patsy Britt, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include two sons, Tim McClish, of Paragould, Ark. and Billy McClish, of Cardwell; four daughters, Sherry Thompson Jones, Tammy and Dana Jones and Dawn Thompson, all of Cardwell; two brothers, Walter McClish, Jr., of Senath, Mo. and Floyd McClish, of Cardwell; two sisters, Mary Faye Dunigan and Jewell Carter, both of Cardwell and 11 grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Friday, June 27, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Arbyrd, Mo.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 28, at the Full Gospel Church in Cardwell with Dwight Harrison officiating.

Burial will follow at the Cardwell Cemetery.

Harvey Mead

Harvey Mead, 65, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Wednesday, June 25, 2003, at the Pemiscot County Memorial Hospital in Hayti, Mo.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, June 28, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett and also from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday, June 29, at the Pentecostal Power New Deliverance Church in Caruthersville.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 29, at the Pentecostal Power New Deliverance Church.

Burial will follow at the United Baptist Church Cemetery in Gobler, Mo.

Ruby Snider

Ruby Ethel Snider, 86, of Wappapello, Mo., formerly of Campbell, Mo., died Thursday, June 26, 2003, at the River Oaks Care Center in Steele, Mo.

Born Oct. 1, 1916, in Malden, Mo., daughter of the late Joseph H. and Carrie Isabell Pittman McLemore, she was a homemaker, a nurse's aide and of the Baptist faith.

On Oct. 27, 1934, in Campbell, she married Fred E. Snider, who preceded her in death on July 27, 1998. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Edna Redmond and Agnes Duckett; one half-brother, Thomas Houchin and one half-sister, Alma Houchin Manship.

Survivors include one son, Jeffrey Dwight Snider and wife, Donna, of Caruthersville, Mo.; two sisters, Pansy McCleskey, of Piggott, Ark. and Henrietta Riege, of Port Charles, Fla.; one grandson, Jason Dwight Snider, of McGehee, Ark.; two great-grandsons, Jason Dwight Snider, Jr. and Jackson Teague Snider, both of McGehee and two step-granddaughters, Rhonda Mitchell and Abbie Shelton, both of Sikeston.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., today, Friday, June 27, at the Landess Funeral Home in Campbell.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 28, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Amos Dees officiating.

Burial will follow at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Campbell.

Patsy Young

Patsy Lou Noah Young, 68, died March 27, 2003, in California.

Born Dec. 10, 1934, in Hornersville, Mo., daughter of the late Archie and Genevieve Young, she was a member of the Baptist Church and the Order of Rainbow for Girls.

She married Walter Noah, of Hornersville.

Survivors include one son; three daughters; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. They live in California, Texas and Virginia.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Sue Ann.

Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 26, at the First Baptist Church in Hornersville with the Rev. Dale Rickman officiating.
