Bill Baker

Wilburn "Bill" Baker, 89, of Gideon, Mo., died Monday, June 30, 2003, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today, Tuesday, July 1, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dale Shoup officiating.

Burial will follow at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden.

Sherman Burton

Sherman Burton, 80, of Arbyrd, Mo., died today, Tuesday, July 1, 2003, at the Senath Nursing Home in Senath, Mo

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, at the Bradshaw-Emerson Funeral Home in Hornersville.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 3, at the First Baptist Church in Hornersville with the Rev. Doug Clinton officiating.

Burial will follow at the Cardwell Cemetery in Cardwell, Mo.

Silas Cuff

Silas Cuff, 96, of Kennett, died Monday, June 30, 2003, at National Healthcare in Kennett.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, July 1, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Dale Rickman and Doug Clinton officiating.

Burial will follow at the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Kennett.

Velma Davidson

Velma Lula Davidson, 91, of Gideon, Mo., died Friday, June 27, 2003, at Pointe Lookout Christian Health Care in Hollister, Mo.

Born March 26, 1912, in Paroquet, Ark., daughter of the late Henry Clay and Agnes M. Hutchison Johnson, she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Gideon.

On Feb. 17, 1929, in Malden, Mo., she married Zollie Davidson, who preceded her in death on May 28, 1965. She was also preceded in death by one son, Henry Davidson; one daughter, Fannie Mae Davidson and one brother, Clay Johnson.

Survivors include one son, Mayburn Davidson and wife, Cora, of Point Lookout, Mo.; two sisters, Marie Isaac, of Ballwin, Mo. and Tish Jernigan, of Columbus, Ga.; two brothers, J.P. Johnson, of Melrose, Fla. and Albert Johnson, of Deland, Fla.; one daughter-in-law, Doris Davidson, of Pocahontas, Ark.; four grandchildren, Terry Davidson, of Dimondale, Mich., John Davidson, of Lansing, Mich., Tina Cooper, of Eagle, Mich. and Jennifer Davidson, of Point Lookout.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 30, at the First Baptist Church in Gideon with the Revs. Kelly Reed and Lloyd Anderson officiating.

Burial was in the Park Cemetery at Malden.

Bradshaw Funeral Home of Gideon was in charge of arrangements.

Beulah Frazier

Beulah Fay Frazier, 91, of Kennett, died Sunday, June 29, 2003, at her residence.

Born Feb. 4, 1912, in Bloomfield, Mo., daughter of the late Albert and Mary Cartwright Morris, she was a founding member of Abiding Peace Temple Church and was owner/operator of a local grocery store.

She married Edgar Frazier, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Vader and Henry Morris and four sisters, Verbie Rampley, Annie Winchester, Geneva Fisher and Elgie Riles.

Survivors include one son, John Cason, of Campbell, Mo.; one daughter, Olita Rohlfing, of Kennett; one brother, Delmer Morris, of Kennett; one sister, Nellie Ishmel, of Fort Smith, Ark.; four grandchildren, Johnny "C.J." Cason, of Campbell, Larry Mullen, of Providence, La., Phyllis Jones, of Memphis, Tenn. and Cheryl Finnegan, of Ventura, Calif. and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, July 1, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Dennis Collins officiating.

Burial was in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.

Pallbearers were Hubert and Eric Snipes, Brian Callis, Bill Heinen, Greg Akers and Sam Horton.

Clara Maclin

Clara Edna Maclin, 93, of Wardell, Mo., died Friday, June 27, 2003, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.

Born Jan. 3, 1910, in Carden Bottom, Ark., daughter of the late W.H. and Ida Moore James, she was former owner of Highway 20 Cafe in Dyersburg, Tenn.

On Oct. 8, 1930, in Pemiscot County, she married Wilbur Edward Maclin, who preceded her in death on April 12, 1948. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Edwinia Williams.

Survivors include two daughters, Rosemary Mathis, of Wardell and Minnie Scobey, of Newburn, Tenn. and 10 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 30, at the Wardell First Baptist Church with the Rev. Griff Walker officiating.

Burial was in the Dry Bayou Cemetery at Hayti, Mo.

Bradshaw Funeral Home of Wardell was in charge of arrangements.

Arley Martin

Arley Martin, 62, of Senath, Mo., died Monday, June 30, 2003, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.

Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday, July 3, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Senath.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 3, at the Senath Cemetery.

Ollie Sharp

Ollie Mae Sharp, 72, of Schertz, Texas, died Monday, June 30, 2003, at Schertz.

Born July 9, 1930, in Clarkton, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Lester O. and Ruby Moore Bailey.

She married Charles L. Sharp, who survives.

Survivors also include two daughters, Debra Sharp, of Houston, Texas and Lisa Birdwell Paschal and husband, Bill, of Universal City, Texas; one son, Richard Sharp and wife, Kim, of San Antonio, Texas; one brother, Luther O. Bailey and wife, Evelyn, of Russellville, Ala. and eight grandchildren, Scott and Matthew Birdwell, Daniel and Michael Paschal, Andrea Wirt and Chelsea, Shelby and Carter Sharp.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, at the Schertz Funeral Home in Schertz, Texas.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 3, at the Schertz Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Dan Franklin officiating.

Burial will follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery in San Antonio.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Annas Speakes

Annas Speakes, 70, of Clarkton, Mo., died Saturday, June 28, 2003, at Three Rivers Healthcare North in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Born July 25, 1932, in Rives, Mo., daughter of the late Bryant and Madline Mitchell Baker, she was of the Baptist faith.

On Aug. 30, 1951, in Piggott, Ark., she married Edward Speakes.

Survivors include one son, Paul Speakes, of Marshfield, Mo.; one daughter, Debbie Jones, of Seymour, Mo.; two sisters, Joyce Baker, of Clarkton and Nanny Avery, of Dexter, Mo.; three brothers, Burlin Baker, of Dalton, Mass., Vernon Baker, of Drummonds, Tenn. and Donald Baker, of Beaufort, S.C.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, July 1, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Malden, Mo. with the Rev. Mike Watkins officiating.

Burial was in the Stanfield Cemetery at Clarkton.

Harriet Thrupp

Harriet Merry Thrupp, 89, formerly of Caruthersville, Mo., died Thursday, June 26, 2003, at Dyersburg Nursing Care in Dyersburg, Tenn.

Born Sept. 5, 1913, in Caruthersville, daughter of the late Lawrence Edwin and Mattie Queen Phlegar Thrupp, she was employed at Southwest Missouri Baptist University in Bolivar, Mo. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Caruthersville and of the Pemiscot County Historical Society.

Survivors include two sisters, Pauline Jacobi, of Dyersburg and Catherine Kaiser, of Steele, Mo.; three nephews and one niece.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, June 30, at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home in Caruthersville with Dr. James Adams officiating.

Burial was in the Little Prairie Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Earl Bullington, John Sellars, Charles Manz, Lavanda White, Hansel Morgan and Ernest L. Bullington.

Cora Young

Cora Lee Young, 73, of Bragg City, Mo., died Monday, June 30, 2003, at Holcomb, Mo.
