Leah Crank

Leah Crank, 34, of Malden, Mo., died Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at her residence.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete with the Landess Funeral Home of Malden.

Earnest Hart

Earnest Junior Hart, 59, of Arbyrd, Mo., died Saturday, May 4, 2002, at National Health Care in Kennett.

Born Sept. 23, 1942, in Greenbrier, Ark., he was the son of the late Cecil and Tennessee Ward Hart.

On Nov. 23, 1979, in Arbyrd, he married Joyce Sando, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include four brothers, Bill Hart, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Charles West, of Rockford, Ill., Winford West, of Xenia, Ill. and Larry West, of Senath, Mo.; one sister, Brenda Grimaldo, of Arbyrd and one granddaughter, Rebecca Keller.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Debbie Keller.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 7, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Senath with the Rev. Denny Brown officiating.

Burial was in the Cude Cemetery.

Arthur Johnson

Arthur Dale Johnson, 80, of Bernie, Mo., died Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Born Aug. 21, 1921, in Bernie, son of the late Arthur 'Jack' and Evadne Smith Johnson, he was a U.S. Army veteran serving in WWII, worked at General Motors and was a member of the American Legion of Malden, Mo.

Survivors include two daughters, Pamela Sue Morgan, of Dexter, Mo. and Deborah Ann Hobgood, of Bernie; one sister, Joan Kittel, of Bernie; five grandchildren, Rebecca Tanner and Derek Hobgood, both of Bernie, Cara Eaton and Devon Guethle, both of Dexter and Shane Mansker, of Corning, Ark. and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Joseph Dale Johnson.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, May 8, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 9, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Susan Marner-Sides officiating.

Burial will follow at the Bernie Cemetery.

Herman Matthews

Herman Matthews, 94, of Malden, Mo., died today, Wednesday, May 8, 2002, at the Malden Nursing Center.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete with the Bradshaw Funeral Home of Malden.
