Leah Crank

Leah Joan Crank, 34, of Malden, Mo., died Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at her residence.

Born Oct. 27, 1967, in Kennett, daughter of Don Crank, of Malden and Peggy Buchanan Bledsoe, of Malden, she was a member of the Kimball Baptist Church in Malden.

Survivors also include three brothers, Don Crank II, of Alexandria, Minn., Joseph Crank, of Melbourne, Fla. and Steve Woods, of Malden; three sisters, Kerry Schroeppel, of Springfield, Mo., Cindy Deen, of Malden and Terri Roper, of Kennett and grandparents, T.B. & Hazel Green, of Malden.

She was preceded in death by grandparents, Roy and Lona Crank.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Thursday, May 9, at the Landess Funeral Home in Malden.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 10, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gene Lancaster officiating.

Burial will follow at the Park Cemetery in Malden.

Everett Davis

Everett Davis, 68, of Malden, Mo., died Wednesday, May 8, 2002, at the Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Born Jan. 2, 1934, in Blytheville, Ark., son of the late Elmer and Connie Overton Davis, he was a mechanic, a farmer and he attended the Christ Gospel Church in Puxico, Mo.

On March 14, 1951, in Bloomfield, Mo., he married Maggie Elizabeth Stevenson, who preceded him in death on Oct. 23, 1987.

Survivors include two daughters, Jackie Daniels and Ruth Ann Hodge, both of Puxico; two sons, Eugene Davis, of Bloomfield and Larry Davis, of Advance, Mo.; a very special friend, Joyce Smith, of Malden; three brothers, Lex Davis, of Malden, Donald Davis, of Arkansas and Ronald Gene Davis, of Campbell, Mo.; three sisters, Vera Presley, of St. Louis, Mo., Katheryn Harlan, of Springfield, Mo. and Betty Moore, of Campbell; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will begin after 5:30 p.m. today, Thursday, May 9, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 10, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Tim Hedge and Charles Newell officiating.

Burial will follow at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden.

Graveside memorial services, with military rites, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 11, at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden, Mo., for Billy Neil Fletcher, of Miramar, Fla., formerly of Gideon, Mo. The Rev. Robert Morgan will be officiating.

Bradshaw Funeral Home of Malden will be in charge of arrangements.

Carl Hargrove

Carl Wayne Hargrove, 65, of Hot Springs, Ark., formerly of Malden, Mo., died Wednesday, May 8, 2002, at the St. Joseph Hospital in Hot Springs.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Friday, May 10, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 11, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tom Hargrove officiating.

Burial will follow at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden.

Ruby Hawkins

Ruby E. Hawkins, 84, of Jonesboro, Ark., died Thursday, May 2, 2002, at her residence.

Born Oct. 13, 1917, in Holcomb, Mo., daughter of the late James Luther and Molly Ham Goldsmith, she was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church.

She married Raymond D. Hawkins, who preceded her in death on June 28, 1991.

She was also preceded in death by one brother, James Bryant Goldsmith and three sisters, Vivian Burnett and Lennie and Vela Goldsmith.

Survivors include one son, Ralph Donald Hawkins, of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; one daughter Sandy Rose, of Jonesboro and one grandchild, Cleatus Allen Rose, of Jonesboro.

Graveside services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 6, at the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Kennett with the Rev. Dale Rickman officiating.

McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett was in charge of arrangements.

Herman Matthews

Herman Matthews, 94, of Malden, Mo., died Wednesday, May 8, 2002, at the Maledn Nursing Center.

Born Feb. 1, 1908, in Red Bud, Ill., son of the late Herman and Lettie Shumonie Matthews, he was of the Baptist faith.

On Aug. 18, 1930, in Malden, he married Ethel Mae Strong, who preceded him in death on Jan. 21, 1998. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Robert and Ernie Matthews; one sister, Zelma Ritcheson and two brothers, Goldman and Roosevelt McCarthy.

Survivors include one son, Leo Matthews and wife, Faye, of Herculanenum, Mo.; two daughters, Daisy Tilley and husband, Junior, of Mammoth Springs, Ark. and Linda White and husband, Charlie, of Malden; one brother, Ed McCarthy, of Winston, Ore.; one sister, Hattie Cullum, of Parma, Mo.; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Matthews Winberry, of Malden; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Friday, May 10, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tim Matthews and Randy Moore officiating.

Burial will follow at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden.

Pallbearers will be the grandsons.
